The Hobby Series

I'll admit that as a medical student and trainee, one of the things I struggled with the most was maintaining a self outside of medicine. I have talked with friends and colleagues about this as well. Many of us went into medicine as well-rounded, unique individuals but came out feeling like exhausted cookie-cutter doctors without anything that made us ourselves.

Since this is such a common occurrence, I bring to you The Hobby Series, a series of blog posts discussing what it's like to lose the things you did for fun that made you unique and how to find them again when it's been so long without them.

My hope is that The Hobby Series can help you realize that you're not alone and potentially give you some ideas for fun ways to spend your time, help prevent you from losing yourself to your career, or at least give you some guidance on how to find the things you enjoy outside of medicine when you've lost sight of them.
